Christmas - Away Resorts

As Christmas approaches a recent survey by Away Resorts, leading park operator and holiday home provider, discovers 45% of Brits will be going away this Christmas, but 24% plan on staying in the UK. Over half (24%) will be taking their break within the UK

In contrast, only 21% of Brits are opting to go abroad over the holiday season and nearly half of those (8%) will be in their overseas chateaus.

This is very similar to the number staying in UK holiday homes (6%) suggesting this is becoming a popular way for Brits to invest their money.

Kate Watts, Holiday Home Sales Marketing Manager for Away Resorts, explains: “Our holiday accommodation over the festive period is at 90% occupancy at our Tattershall Lakes Park in Lincolnshire and Sandy Balls in the New Forest as we have a lot of fun things happening including Christmas lunch and New Year’s Eve parties.

In other parks with no facilities we have 45% occupancy and of all we would say around 70% of guests are holiday home owners.”

Why Brits Choose to Go Away

As more choose staycations this Christmas the majority (24%) say it’s the only chance they get to go away.

This is followed closely by Brits wanting to use their UK holiday homes (18%), avoiding the busy season at home (15%) and preferring Christmas away from home (11%).

Staycations Are The Go-to Getaway

Of those who will be away from home, 73% will be taking their break in the UK, suggesting the staycation is a popular choice for festive getaways.

Of the same data set, only 13% said they would be heading abroad to warmer climates, while 8% said they would be at their own holiday home abroad and 6% would be making use of their holiday home in the UK.

What Are The Top Reasons For People Going Away During This Period?
