Blue Hills Touring Park in St Agnes, North Cornwall, run by Ginny and Martin Brant, has been announced as the best in the UK for dogs and their owners in the Kennel Club’s Be Dog Friendly Awards 2016.

The dog-loving British public voted in their thousands for their favourite dog friendly businesses as a way of recognising and celebrating those that go the extra mile to make man’s best friend feel welcome.

Blue Hills Touring Park has now won the Camping/Caravanning award twice, this year receiving almost 20 per cent of nominations in the category, which firmly places it as one of the nation’s favourite camping spots for holidaymakers and their dogs. The competition, held in association with, is based solely on public vote across the summer.  Be dog friendly campsite

Research carried out by the Kennel Club has found that there are many benefits to businesses being dog friendly including an improvement to overall atmosphere of a place – 96% of people surveyed noticed a better ambience when dogs were around, with a boost in staff productivity and morale; 90% of employers observed a positive change in the working environment after allowing dogs; and four out of five companies cited a newly introduced dog friendly policy as a reason for improved business.

Ginny and Martin Brant, who run Blue Hills said: “We are so pleased we have won for a second year. I think the new addition of our free ‘doggy wash’ for guests may have helped! Winning the award last year definitely made for an increase in bookings from guests with dogs, and our ‘doggy donations’ have since gone up by a third which is fantastic.

“We are so fortunate to be situated in a lovely part of the country and this award helps greatly towards promoting the business in this beautiful area as well as other dog friendly businesses.”

The camping park has recently been shortlisted for the local Chamber of Commerce’s Best New Idea Award for their new initiative, ‘Harley’s Field’ – a dog walk and play area.

Kennel Club Secretary said: “This year’s Be Dog Friendly Awards have received the most votes yet, which just goes to show how much it means to dog owners to have places that they can visit with their faithful companions.

“Huge congratulations to Blue Hills Touring Park – winning an award more than once is no easy feat. The winners of these awards are determined by the public and all of this year’s winners are perfect examples of how businesses and public places can reap the benefits of being dog friendly. The winners of the Be Dog Friendly Awards were presented with their awards at the Kennel Club in London on Thursday 27th October.
