A frame problems

Question

Posted

I recently was alarmed to find a bolt that secures the over run  brake pushrod cylinder to the A frame bracket had sheared, resulting in an alarming amount of vertical movement on the coupling. The movement also caused the bracket on the front of the A frame to break.

The caravan is a Knaus Starclass560 2008 with an Alko chassis. Having replaced both pushrod cylinder bolts and the bracket I note I have a small amount of vertical movement on the pushrod. Is a small amount of vertical movement permissible or do I need to replace the cylinder bushes.

Have you used genuine replacement bolts as they appear to be 12.9 high tensile?

Some play will develop in the drawshaft bearings over time so what do you mean by a small amount?
