12v electrics in Bailey Ranger 2002

Question

Posted

Morning all,

Picked up a new unit yesterday, supposed to be going away tomorrow.

Got her home yesterday and plugged in the 230v cable. Got mains lighting and the fridge working on 230v, no problem. Inside the van is a voltmeter and 12v master switch. Turned those on - nothing.

Put my voltmeter accross the leisure battery, 5.4v eek! So I guess that's screwed. Will try to charge it later but for now I've got a car battery on which is registering 12.5 volts.

With the car battery on, 12v master switch now comes on (indicated by LED) and the caravan voltmeter shows 12.5 or thereabouts. Still nothing doing on any of the 12v appliances :-(

RCDs are all in the ON position and I have tested and reset them.

Under the seat is a fuse board. All of the fuses have 12.5v going through them, so the power from the battery IS reaching the fuseboard but still nothing works!

HAYLP!

Okay, stand down. Found a "master" switch near the door which controls lights and radio! Why don't they put that in the bloody manual! Grrrrr!

Yes - very likely an auto bulb - probably of around 10w

It is in the Pageant handbook I think but I never got one until I downloaded it in January

One thing to watch for is the fuse holder doesn't like cheap fuses as they are thinner and wobble in the contacts and melt rolleyes3.gif

I’m off again on Thursday and hopefully getting more. That fish was my first from this water for a long time. I left the club about 15 years ago. There have been a lot of changes since then especially in the fish size apparently there are at least 20x20s and 4x30s. So I am hoping for something a lot bigger
