Any one any ideas of how to get points - coupons - money off vouchers etc - for use on Brittany Ferries..

Used to be able to use Air-miles -- but since that closed down - and became Avios - I don't know of any others.

This is what Lloyds Loading List says..........

Amid growing losses, Brittany Ferries has announced plans to reduce the frequency of some its Channel services "to optimise load factors on its vessels, regain competitiveness and safeguard the company".

The Roscoff-based operator is also looking to reduce its wage bill – notably through modifications to the number of hours worked by its employees.

Unions complain they are being kept in the dark over the details of the plan.

Brittany is reported to have been in the red to the tune of €18 million for the 12 months of its financial year ending 30 September 2011, following losses of €16 million in 2009-2010 and more than €5 million in 2008-2009.

"It is imperative from now on that the company adapts its business model in order to cope with a severe deterioration in market condtions and compete against operators that are not faced with the same constraints nor exposed to variations in the parity between sterling and the euro," a company statement added

It declined to comment further at this stage.

The plans were unveiled at a meeting of Brittany’s works committee at the end of last week.

"When pressed to provide more details on what is in the pipeline, management refused," a senior union official at the company told Lloyds Loading List.com.

"We are being kept in the dark, and fear cutbacks in services and jobs. Its staff are Brittany’s biggest asset and making them the brunt of restructuring measures is wrong," he said.

The non-replacement of staff who are retiring is already in force, he added.

Turnover from freight in the operator’s last financial year was up 14.4% on the previous 12 months, to €88.2 million.

I think that is one route they make money on...judging by the number of times I hear that people can't get the dates they want....

Brittany ferries have a good product. They target affluent people who will pay a premium for an overnight service. I have used them many times and been pleased with what they have to offer.

The challenge is quite simple on the passenger side. Improved motorway connections along the French coast mean that the savings in time V cost are'nt quite what they one were. Take a ONE WAY sailing 21 July when I'm travelling. discovery plus van 8m long Brittany Ferries to Caen £488 LD Line Le Havre £401 Ld Lines Dieppe £189. Dover - Calais is as low as £78 and you see the issue.

They are also affected by low cost airlines. people take a car out to France early summer and leave it there when they pop back to the UK. Take a look at Limoges airport and its full of British cars left there when the owners pop home. Short breaks crucial to the business model are taken by air not ferry.

The fact that a ship that can accommodate 2100 pax and accommodation for 700 still has cabins on the prime sailing of the year indicates all is not well. Great product but the market is changing and they need to alter their business model.... two sailings a day instead of three on certain days and have a slightly later arrival time. Reduces fuel useage and allows for more onboard revenue.

Hi all,

I use Brittany Ferries reg' as a Property Owners Cub member, and am very satisfied with the service provided. Traveling Saumur- Leic's I cannot be doing with extra travel to Calais and Dover,it's a doddle Caen-Portsmouth. We do get a good discount, free breakfasts on night crossings and Free cabins on morning or afternoon crossings.Must admit though ( as a business owner myself ) they really should look at more than a couple of things to improve efficiency. We arrived Sat evening at Caen expecting to stay in the caravan overnight and take the early Sunday morning sailing. We were advised we could take the Saturday night crossing, but it would be an extra £150-00. When asked would they sooner take an empty space to Portsmouth sooner than try and sell again my spot on the Sunday morning, they couldn't answer. Now to me that does not make sense . Enjoy your caravanning, indoors.

NB: I've booked Caen-Portsmouth return sailing Sun am - Sun pm, Toyota Hi Lux + Hymer Nova caravan + 2 Adults = £358-40p.

Those in the know regards eastern crossing costs are welcome to offer a better deal.!!!

Whilst it may seem odd not to let you on the overnight sailing I can tell you what will happen. You're busy checking passengers and vehicles in on a busy sailing and then people turn up continually asking to change their booking to obtain better value. It happens and it's a case if ensuring you obtain the right revenue. Dover to Calais is slightly different but even there new fares allow flexibility if you want to pay for it.
