East Beach Caravan Park

Caravan Camping Site, East Beach Caravan Park

Shoeburyness Essex SS3 9SG

Tel: (01702 292466)

Map

Pitches 20 with electric hookup, all grass and fairly level, apart from 2 that are hardstanding but being used by seasonals. The other half of the site is being used by static holiday homes.

The campsite is owned by Park Homes and part of the site is being developed by them for retirement homes.

The campsite overlooks the sea...just, but is divided from it by the unused MOD railway line so you have to leave the campsite to get to the beach which is no problem as it is only a 2 min walk. The wardens are friendly enough and the security is pretty tight with the gates being locked at 5pm and you must make sure you keep them locked if you go out.

Generally the site is very clean and tidy, the suprise was the shower/toilet blocks which are fairly old but well maintained, very clean and the showers are better than most.

All in all a pretty nice but very basic campsite so don't expect too much, the good thing about it is the proximity to the beach and grass areas, the beach being a blue flag area. The campsite is within a large town and back directly onto houses

There is no shop onsite but there is a small selection of shops in the high street, approx 5 mins and an Asda approx 15 mins from the site.

Also close is Gunners park, Southend seafront/pier about 15-20 mins in the car.

Local pubs aren't great but the shorehouse on Ness road I think it is, sells good food and there are a host of other places very close by.

One word of caution though. The grass areas between the campsite and the beach are very very popular, in the good weather the area is packed late into the night and it can be noisy.

I think that are some very honest and true words in all the posts in this thread.  People move on, sell up, change hobbies and I very much understand that but just this morning there are less than a handful of people 'on line' and one is the site owner ! I was by no means a major poster but around the 2005-2010 period I was a daily visitor.  I'm also aware that CT has members too, but have they chosen one over the other?  There are, I'm sure, lots of other reasons but it's a real shame that what I saw on this forum was a vibrant, varied and often colourful discussion and now it has depleted into a handful of posts per day. The fact that it's now August, I posted this in February and the comments were in May means I form a part of the problem myself !!

An hour....?  Is it really worth that kind of wait?  My previous experience of any of the UK shows is that they are poorly facilitated and executed with a host of barriers to get through before you get there and then a poorly delivered show.  Sounds harsh but if you look at the Dusseldorf Salon it's a much better organised event. Disappointing wait just for tickets to get into a show to see Caravans (and equipment) that can be viewed on line or at a dealership !
