East Beach Caravan Park

Caravan Camping Site, East Beach Caravan Park

Shoeburyness Essex SS3 9SG

Tel: (01702 292466)

Pitches 20 with electric hookup, all grass and fairly level, apart from 2 that are hardstanding but being used by seasonals. The other half of the site is being used by static holiday homes.

The campsite is owned by Park Homes and part of the site is being developed by them for retirement homes.

The campsite overlooks the sea...just, but is divided from it by the unused MOD railway line so you have to leave the campsite to get to the beach which is no problem as it is only a 2 min walk. The wardens are friendly enough and the security is pretty tight with the gates being locked at 5pm and you must make sure you keep them locked if you go out.

Generally the site is very clean and tidy, the suprise was the shower/toilet blocks which are fairly old but well maintained, very clean and the showers are better than most.

All in all a pretty nice but very basic campsite so don't expect too much, the good thing about it is the proximity to the beach and grass areas, the beach being a blue flag area. The campsite is within a large town and back directly onto houses

There is no shop onsite but there is a small selection of shops in the high street, approx 5 mins and an Asda approx 15 mins from the site.

Also close is Gunners park, Southend seafront/pier about 15-20 mins in the car.

Local pubs aren't great but the shorehouse on Ness road I think it is, sells good food and there are a host of other places very close by.

One word of caution though. The grass areas between the campsite and the beach are very very popular, in the good weather the area is packed late into the night and it can be noisy.

Hi all, Heads up on this topic. We've part chopped the Coachman for a Hymer 541 Luxusline at Lowdhams.  This whole episode has cost us nine grand to change our old Hymer to the Coachman and now a grand to change to the Hymer, is it worth it ? yes well worth a grand to be rid of the Coachman but I doubt this newer Hymer is 10 grand better than our old one. We're off to Vollenhove & Groningen Northern Holland in two weeks time and then on down to our former village just below the Saumur on the Loire, really am looking forward to doing the trip now ! Happy caravanning, indoors.
