Sorry missed your post!... These I think are all the possibilities in no particular order...

If you have a spark either you have run out of gas or the gas valve is not opening.

This time of year it can be to cold for Butane because it won't turn to gas much below +1C and nothing at all below -2C.

Water or some other fluid in the pipework can prevent gas getting though or you have not turned on an isolation valve.

A rotten burner ends or obstruction in the burner will prevent gas going where it should and although lighting the flame recognition will not work.

Lighting with perfect blue flame but flame recognition circuit faulty.

If you remove the outer plastic flue cover and the alloy plate behind that, you can then check what is happening if someone switches on an off for you.

Or a water pipe has corroded away and is leaking onto the burner not allowing it to light or putting it out after a while. Didn't half shoot flame out of the flue pipe when the gas did light though fear.giffear.gif

I know it sounds silly but it's just one of those things that can happen to some people i.e. me.

OK, it was a long time ago on a rather old van and it meant a whole new water heater was required but it was the cause of the problem all the same.

Not silly at all Bob very common and the reason the burner ends rot away prematurely...I get plenty of late 90's in like this. Older ones from the beginning in 85 till 89 were all stainless steel and rot proof.
