Well though I like the look of them I find I have to point out something that was in your post

    American RVs

    This alone tells a story
The Yankee sites have a half-acre to a pitch (or the yanks would never be able to reverse onto one)
Drive on and off in one simple arc for them

And the UK sites ........ Well many are built for a reasonably small car and a 16 ft caravan

The one I went to a few weeks ago Lomond woods nr Glasgow

It was fairly tight for my VW caravelle and a 13 ft trailer I could not reverse on the pitch I was allocated with out driving over the grass on the pitch opposite
And I am not a novice driver with a trailer 15 years of HGV1 has given me a clue or two

Looking at the pic of the trailer I would have said it would not have be able to get round the site without hitting something
    It is just too big

But on the other hand I have been to sites that would be able to cope with the size easily
So the moral of the story is
Ring ahead and ask if size really does matter

If a bloke answers you will be ok

I have been to many sites that you would just not get round the corners on the site with a large vehicle like that let alone be able to reverse it onto a pitch with out damaging the surrounding grass or flower beds

    That said
I still want one but only after I win the lotto

    Inverbervie Beach
I am off to Scotland next weekend

On a site 50 meters from the beach

With the river Bervie running along the side of the site

Hope to get a bit of fishing in both the river and the sea

But I have not fished up there at this time of the year so does any one know what fish to expect out of the North Sea

It’s a steep sloping stony beach with the fresh water running in as well

Had some mackerel last time but it was later in the year

Also caught a seagull and a balloon just to be different

What time of the year do salmon and sea trout start running up the rivers?
As they do go into the Bervie

Yes I agree it is a fantastic place to visit

We got there a day after the floods in 2005
The river had been 50 feet higher than normal and it had gone over the road on the bridge
It had also washed away the new and unopened visitor center

We had a problem getting into and out of the barriers in the car park
The motor home did not fit through the car one and we were let in via the coach one
But on the way out they did ask for the money that a coach would have had to pay
After a tense 20 mins we got out at the price of a car

Blimey I think I can add as many as there are all ready

    How about these

    http://www.beyond.fr/villages/fontvaucluse.html

This is an amazing place to visit
When the river that springs out from an underground hole is in full flood I think it was 22 million liters of water an hour come out of it
We stayed in the isle de le sorge on a site that had the river Vaucluse round 2 sides of the site and was a 10 min walk into the town center
There is also a massive flea market at the weekend

Take the waterbus round the immense gulf and get to see the tide (all 30 foot of it) rush through a narrow channel and eddy up making mushroom shapes in the water for miles

Can't remember the site we stayed at here but it was some where near Vannes

Well done Scouser you found the details

The site is in an ideal position for exploring the local area

Just some of the things to do/see

The Pub on site and especially the trout master beer

    Eden project

Fowery (Stop in the car park and get the mini bus down the very steep hill into the town)

The Cornish market? (I think I got the name correct) at St Blazey gate. Every thing you can think of in there

The Pub on site and especially the trout master beer

We have been there twice and will go back any time

Did I mention the pub and the fab beer?

Here we were and the pub was crawling distance back to the caravan

Danbury were selling new versions of the old vans for arround 21 grand
But the vans were manufactured in Brazil and imported into the UK
The have a VW Golf engine instead of the old flat 4
    And were rather nice

I think the production has now finished

I did not get the dates for the first Vw vans correct
So here is an extract from VW historic pages

Beginning life as a sketch during the late 1940s, Volkswagen vans first began to roll off the production line in 1950 in the form of the VW Bulli.

Renamed as the Transporter due to a legal issue surrounding a trademark, the van quickly became a firm favourite with drivers. The one millionth vehicle was driven out of the factory in 1962 with the two million mark being hit only six years later in 1968.

The first light van was made in 1975 and named the Transporter T3, the development of which allowed Volkswagen to incorporate technological advances such as water-cooled engines and synchronised four wheel drive systems.

    It would too

    Through mud
    and rivers
    ,forests and woods
    Green lanes and farms
    Just as it should

I on the other hand don't get that lost
and tend to stay on the roads in style and be posh
    LOL
But did you know that you can get a 4WD version as well Same running gear as the toureg
    Every one wants one

Look even the scooter boys are jealous and want to get in on the real action

When I went to but my T4 there was a guy there getting a new T4 van
He only had to get it, as the breakdown companies would not cover him for European work
    He was a courier
And the old van had done 468.000 miles on the original engine and gearbox

And you are quite correct T4's rule
