Following the recent developments at Discover Leisure and the company going into administration, are sympathies go out to all their staff involved. It really is sad news.
For any customers equally worried about their caravans, servicing and warranty repairs, we at Reads are very happy to help out at this very difficult time. We are approved by Bailey and Swift for servicing and warranty repairs.
the warranty on any bailey starts from the original date of purchase from the original supplying dealer. all subsequent services have to be on the anniversary of the original date of purchase (6 weeks either side is the time period allowed). the service must be completed by a bailey dealer, a bailey approved workshop, or a member of the approved workshop scheme. provided that this criteria has been meet, and the warranty has been transfered to the new owner by registering it with bailey then the warrnty is still valid.
2hrs! i`d love to know what you get in that service, when a full service should be more like 4hrs when done properly ie brakes stripped, cleaned and reset, and a full damp test. and say hello to ady, i worked with him for several years at stewart longtons
well the dealers for all manufactures i spoke to certainly didnt have a good show. deals were being done for nothing. infact some dealers were selling new vans at less than cost. if the show wasnt going to excel next year, i think a lot of the usual faces at nec wouldnt have been there next year anyway
i cannot speak for other dealers but for us the majority of servicing and minor repairs are completed in the same day. the only time we will have a caravan with us for a week is for those customers who want to drop off on a saturday and collect the following saturday. if it is a small repair or a service that requires it, we will complete it while you wait
we are selling a lot of purpleline at the moment. they seem to be a very good unit, based loosely on the old truma MK1 mover which was brilliant. we fit a lot because they will fit most caravans even if the caravan has shocks absorbers, plus they are the cheapest we sell.
it is normal working practice that the dealer submitting the warranty claim should be happy that the caravan has full service history before submitting the claim. this should be in the form of service invoices and copies of all service schedules and damp reports from bailey approved service agents. without this proof claims should not be submitted. in a lot of cases bailey ask for all copies of previous damp reports before authorising any water ingress claims. this makes sure that bailey is not paying twice for the same job due to previous shoddy workmanship from a repairer. it also ensures that the caravan has been service in accordance to the terms and conditions of the warranty and the service requirements. if bailey have already paid a repairer previously, they will reject any subsequent claims. this is the same practice from all other manufacturers, not just bailey.
