Well finally managed to do it - picked up a Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.0 CRD at the weekend.

First impressions - amazing - so smooth

Towing this Friday so looking forward to seeing how it handles 1650kg on the back - fairly sure it wont even notice.

One very happy bunny

Well I can confirm after a weekend away what a delight to tow - pulling onto dual carriage ways etc and absolute breeze

The only downside is the fuel economy but hey I guess I can't have everything

Towing our Lunar Delta TI MTPLM 1735kg returned about 23mpg.  Solo almost 28mpg, but that is no motorway driving.  Doing brim to brim calculations and find that surprisingly the onboard computer for mpg is fairly accurate!
Sometimes I pretend to be normal, but it gets boring so I go back to being me.

Once I have done a brim to brim fill up while towing only then will I know for sure as at the moment I have to use the onboard computer so maybe it will change at that point.  Posted Image

I currently get about 28 when cruising 70 on motoroways

Got 21 towing 1650kg but that was a lot of back roads with a few miles of dual carriage way thrown in - wasn't hammering it but likewise wasn't crawling if that makes sense.

Around town with my wife doing the school run (only a few miles a day) only average 19.5 - which is a bit lower than I thought I'd get but our area is very hilly so permanently up and down.

Overall very pleased with it so far.

Issues I need to sort out are Service Tire Pressure System message - to be fair looking around think missing sensors as new tyres put on and they don't look like they have anything other than normal valves on

Needs front wheel alignment doing as a bit off - also needs new spare tyre

But otherwise happy bunny

We are replacing the tyres tomorrow as have Hankooks Dynapro on front, General Grabber  and Goodyear Wrangler on rear which are just within legal limit.  The Hankooks are above legal limit, but thought if would have the same all around so going for General Grabbers HTS.
Probably hang onto the Hankooks and sell them on eBay.

I would like some AT's on mine but cannot find any to fit as I have the 18inch overland alloys running 245 60 18s, plus all bar the spare look like they are brand new just got that one odd one

Try Black Circles or Camskill.  You input your reg number and it shows the tyres.  Mine are 17".  BF Goodrich tyres in my opinion are one of the best tyres on the market.  I had them on my Surf and road holding in wet or dry was excellent.  Paid £150 each fitted, but they were 16".  Unfortunately BFGs not readily available in 17".
