We have a bradcot awning. This is now too small for our new caravan.
I have thought about buying new. But
I have often read about people having awnings made bigger etc.
Is it possible to have our Bradcot made into a porch awning. Is there anyone that does this.
Or has anyone had this change made . And were you pleased with the results.
Thank you for any help

You have two obvious options:
if the awning is within a 100CM of being the correct size you can get it made larger.
This is done by replacing the two outer roof panels with bigger "triangles".
Speak to Bradcot for recommended awning repairers.
You can make a full awning into a part awning yourself.
One option is to leave it fitting in the awning rail on one side, then leaving the awning rail to "fall" to the ground on the other side. To do this you need to just nick the bead at a distance where the fall length equals the awning rail height.
The other option is to do this on both sides so the awning can be positioned where you want.
You can either live with the drops against the van or buy bits to track the bead down extra poles mounted against the van side. Doing this gives a better "seal" but makes for an expensive job.

I did mail bradcot they gave me a number for a company called trio pair.
I like the idea of still having the one end fitted. But we don't want to make it bigger. It would make it heavier etc.
making it into a porch would need the padded sideor sides to buff up against the van and an up pole. We have a very small NR that we use for now but this is much too small.
Thank you for your help and reply.

Or you could part ex it against a new one or maybe even a second hand one. Having an awning altered isnt that cheap and in my opinion they never look right. They always look like you were drunk when you put it up

Wel thanks any way I thought it would be worth making enquiries. I want to keep the conventional type but my OH wants one of the cheaper modern type . Plus we have the annex and inner tent.
