Hi all,

My son is working on a Honda E300E generator for a friend.

Basically it had stood for some time and it wouldn't run due to stale fuel.

But whilst he was working on it I noticed the output socket was a type I hadn't seen before.

So do any of you recognise this

Thanks in anticipation.

Very odd one, would have said aussie, but the two ' slots ' are different dimensions. I'd mount a blue socket on there, but might have to mount it on a seperate box, depends on the available space. That or it's a scared Cyberman.

It's a North American grounded socket, NEMA 5-15, rated at 15A but only 125V.

The Honda E300 was marketed mainly in the USA.

I can see what you mean in the photo - but the NEMA 5-15 matches the pin pattern.and I can't find anything similar here http://power-plug.so...om/wiki/#Type_B

Just found this http://www.bombayele..._Plugs_s/68.htm which gives 15A/125V or 10A/250V so I guess it's a Japan socket

Its actually an American socket because if you look the left flat socket is slightly longer than the other one.
http://users.telenet....htm#plugs_b  . But..... some Chinese imports often have US style sockets on them as this is a common plug and socket type. Another thing is that China uses 220 Volts.
But I would test the output coming from the socket using a multimeter or get an electrician to do it for you. As the socket type can't guarantee voltage output.

If you can't fix it with a hammer you have got an electrical problem
