Every morning we go for approx. an hours walk with our 4 beloved Springers, but the walk this morning, boy oh boy !

This morning, Sam (3rd in from the left) went AWOL which is something he never normally does.  He had obviously found some foul stinking morsel to munch away on and would he come to our calls, would he hell as like, so fearing the worst, I walked back in the direction we had come from, calling him all the time and Wonderous stopped in the area where he had gone missing.

I went all the way back to the house, clambered into the Landie and raced off down the tracks to find all 4 dogs reunited with Wonderous with Sam looking all meek and mild, as he knew what he was in for when we arrived home..................... he quite literally stank !

We now have a right poncy smelling Springer following his shampoo, set and thorough mouth wash, but I love him to bits as he is after all "my Sam" who had so very sadly, the singularly most terrible/wretched start to life.

Hi Phil

Yes, we can relate to that, our dog, as you know, is almost white, but when he dicided to go and investigate a pool of stagnent green water in the local woods the other day, he was, shall we say, the colour of you Landy, ALL OVER then we had to transport him home in the back of Liz's car (The woods are some 5 miles from our place) so the car stank as well as the retreiver!! and i mean STANK, still we love him to bits too.

One of ours went rolling in something the other weekend.....  We always let them have a quick walk on the beach / sand dunes before our 130 mile journey home.  Was that a mistake?  The fragrance in the car was unreal, in fact is was worse than when I pick up the no 2's and forget to pop them in the bin as we leave the village...

That stirred up a memory of some years ago with one of my 3 sons who was about 5 years old (1975 ish) when we stopped the car near some woods,to let him out to go a wee. He jumped out of the car and went round the back.He moved off a little bit into the woods when we heard a cry.We jumped out and found him covered in some FOUL smelling substance. He had stood on a dead badger and its stomach contence sprayed out right up his legs and on his clothes. We stripped him and put every thing in a plastic shopping bag,but when he climbed back into the car his 2 siblings wouldn't sit near him and kept moaning about the smell that was really pungent and stunk the car out for days afterwards.
