I had an emotional evening last night and an emotional morning when I found the locking wheel nut was missing for the Yaris which had a puncture.

Sorry slightly off topic

Cool, and here I am, sat about a mile from the end of the runway at Fairford. Nice afternoon yesterday watching a display team practice, not sure who they were, all the planes had the sponsers name on them, Britling I think it said. Hopefully will get a few planes arriving today, just hope they come from the west on final approach.

Friday evening update, pissistant rain moist of the day (sic), very little airbourne action, RIAT radio report cloudbase of 800 foot most of the day. 4:30 cloudbase lifts a bit, allowing one display by a Hawk T1, painted grey to match the cloud!, and silly osprey tilt engine half plane half helicopter thing. No sign of Vulcan, weather around Doncaster reported bad, Vulcan does not have much in the way of instruments, so can only fly in clear conditions, guess it could do anything when in the RAF, but now civvy street says VFR only, doubtful if it will arrive tonight, boo hoo, only one thing for it, ATC says becks flight four, turn final on runway 18, operation throat lube proceed.

wowo would have loved to have seen one again.. last saw at Bruntingthorpe many years ago.
I think that XH558 was the first Mk2 to be delivered to the Royal Air Force in  ~1960 to RAF Wadington
[I remember her well !!!] the station not this particular plane

-- although have sheltered for many a long hour under the massive wings guarding against ********!!
It was great when they took off -- you could hear them for ten miles away.
Great flash white bird
No quiet take off's in those days -- full power and away !
Great

Thinking back to my school days in the mid '60s, a couple of Vulcans were stationed at RAF Wyton along with Victors from the clandestine Radar Reconnaissance Flight and all the Canberras from the regular reconnaissance squadrons but the Vulcans don't seem to have been officially listed against Wyton squadrons - these were still painted in anti-flash white when the B1/B2 Vulcans had been camouflaged grey/green because of the role change to low-level bombing.
