The directional status aerials are fine for freeview (Assuming there's a decent signal in the first place)  a lot of the complaints about poor reception are due to poorly made connections on the coax cables.  We actually used to get decent freeview reception in our Lunar using the old 'flying saucer' status aerial once I'd sorted out the connections

my status 540 (?) directional one - works fine just need to remember to check the polarity of the transmitter so that you can get it the right orientation - I downloaded a free app for my phone which works brilliantly
