Had the towbar fitted to my new car yesterday - bloody expensive but I've used the guys before and had the proper wiring kit and a detachable witter bar fitted and they price matched 2 other places so I'm happy enough with what they did.
So all warning lights and towing stability program will work and no beeps when reversing. The car has so many sensors I was really dubious of having it fitted, but I tried the park assist automatic parking system today and it managed to parallel park itself without any hassle so they haven't broken that bit!
Have to tow the van to the dealer next week for an early service and get some frost damage sorted so looking forward to some decent towing mpg.
Be gutted if it's not loads better than the land cruiser on the economy front - even if its not as assured for the rest. I'll miss the reversing camera when hitching up on my own and the height adjustable suspension for sure.
But on the solo front, with the mpg, the road tax, the servicing free for 2 years and no MOT's I reckon I'll be close to 3 maybe 4 grand a year better off (taking account of the work I know the LC would be needing in the next 2 years).
If it tows ok and the van's ok we'll be late booking a site or 2 in France for August.

Get the tyre pressures right and the stability should be fine. I checked all four on my Passat before our last trip away and found them all a little low. I put them up to what the book said then put an extra 2psi in the rear and the difference from the previous trip was marked. Every bit as stable as the Hyundai ever was, and for all it's other shortcomings that was a very stable towing car. Economy was 26-27 mpg but that was with bikes on the roof. Would expect 30 or more without.

I'd be over the moon if its near 30 - reckon I got 18-19 with the LC with or without bikes.
Did 80 mile round trip to 4 clients today and the car said 55mpg. So 30 mpg better solo!
will check the tyres tomorrow - was going to inflate them to fully loaded and will add a couple for luck - I ran the LC with an extra 5psi in all 4 corners all the time and ride was lots better.
