Monday driving to work, pulled out of a junction and there she blew!  We sounded like a big fat sports car..............more like a tractor, the exhaust had gone.......more money! grrr! Posted Image

Anyway left work early and took it to Apex Tyres, now most people know Mondays at Apex Tyres is bad news, (they are that good) they are always busy, but I took a chance there might be a slot for the Trusty Fronty..................but no! failed.................. Hubby suggested I took it to the place opposite Travis Perkins,in not so wet Stamford,  Posted Image so off I went, head well down when driving so nobody would recognise me.............got there and there was nobody being served,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,YEEEHA! but no, the fella had not got the part, time was ticking away and he had another booking coming in, but would be able to do it the next day grrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!  Posted Image So next day came and off I went at the allotted time, I went shopping whilst the fella fixed it, when I came back in half hours time, the fella was pulling his hair out, he had got the part for a SWB, and we have a LWB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  SCREAM!  anyway the proper part was delivered, job done and now we sound like we should.......Posted Image .......£105 lighter in the wallet!

We await the next event with anticipation................things always come in threes, the first one is we have to turn the lights on the get the dashboard dials to work...............

The 3 things that went on our Fronty was a cracked crankshaft pulley, the exhaust, and finally the passenger window winder motor.
Decided to replace it with a 7 seat premium Sante Fe, although not towed with it yet we are happy with it and has a bigger boot (rear two seats folded down) than the Fronty had.
Have been told that the turbo went on the Fronty the week after we sold it, think we got rid at the right time.

That's what I'd expect of a Santa Fe - which is why I don't understand earlier comments that a Sorento is smaller - I know the original Sorento was unrelated to the Santa Fe but the later one is based on it.

Dashboard prob is probably just the main dash connector, Eather take out the dash clocks etc and clean up the Multi plug or try slapping the top of the dash housing!

When I had my Fronty, there was a reference to dashboard slapping in the Haynes workshop manual. Posted Image

Hi Jill As it says really on the plastic above speedo and gauges ( with the fault on ) just try a firm slap/ bump on top of the plastic and see if they start working again, Sometimes works,

Tried that this morning and did not work, perhaps it needs a "man slap"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Slapping won't do a thing. If you search google its a common problem with the original manufacturer of the clocks using poor solder. There is a fix available simple enough if your handy with a soldering iron or yet can get someone to do it.
