Am I alone in thinking that the deluge of companies trying to get rich quick on the back of Payment Protection Insurance (PPI) compensation claims is actually a bigger scandal than the mis-selling of PPI was in the first place?

It seems they make money by deducting their costs from your claim but in reality have to do almost sweet FA because the banks are geared to accept claims directly from account holders.

These claims companies are racking up big costs, continually phoning people to try to sell their service as well as heavily advertising on TV. I'm getting called about 10-15 times a week, from different claims companies as well as accosted in the street.

The big irony is that I've got no chance of PPI compensation as I haven't even had a loan in the last 10 years so goodness knows why my name/number appears on these people's lists.

Yes, yes, yes & yes again.  The whole thing is snowballing out of control faster than the ambulance-chasing "where there's blame, there's a claim" fiasco.

I'm still trying to remember what accident I had that I'm entitled to compensation for, I know I'm getting on a bit, but thought I'd remember something like that.

As above, I am sick of the constant adverts from these cowboys.

The misselling of the PPI's was bad enough but the way these companies are aloud to mis represent the fact you do not need to use them and at a high cost is far more scandelous.

They should be made to pay back all the money they are taking as it is not necessary to use them to claim.

Come on somebody insist they are not able to benefit from this scam.

You can do it all for free yourself and with minimum effort.  It is getting a pain with all these adverts on TV.  PPI if done correctly can be a life saver in the event that you are ill or die.  On all our cars we have always had GAP insurance, but we have bought it in independently and not through a dealer as dealer wants £400 but to buy same policy direct is £200!  Plus dealer likes to add it onto HP to get higher commission.
Sometimes I pretend to be normal, but it gets boring so I go back to being me.
