Tesco today announced the launch of their own budget range caravans that people will be able to purchase direct from Tesco stores across the Country. Tesco management have said the new caravans will open up the market to those people thinking of taking their holidays in the UK rather than abroad.

To keep costs down they will only be manufacturing 2 ranges. The Tesgo 4 an end kitchen 4 berth and the Tesgo 6 a standard layout 6 berth with prices from £12,000 to £15,000 aimed directly at the family market.

The company announced that the caravans will be "collect and go" eg they will have everything you wil need for a trip, ready in the caravan. So in theory you could buy one on Friday morning and be away in the afternoon.

Tesco will be constructing new display areas in their carparks over the next month so keep your eyes peeled

Tesco doing caravans....sounds madness but the energy companies have been on each others 'patch' for years and I saw a glimpse of the Stobart programme on friday evening and is there an industry that firm are not looking at...I am looking forward to Lidl and Aldi's caravans....being german you know they will be good haha !!

I wonder how many tesco points you get ???...channel tunnel crossings for life !!!

Can you buy them with your tesco caravan clubcard? Very foolish kind of pitch though, will they be discounted at the end of the season like so many other product lines, do they have the same useless brakes that the asda model has, they are always rolling back. And indeed, can we look forward to more models in the range in exactly a years time, perhaps a lightweight small van for urban dwellers, the tesco metro?, or a superdupa top of the range with all mod cons, the tesco extra. Really don't fancy paying for one in the self service aisle, lifting a van over the barcode reader could be a pain, I thinks online would be the way to go, but seeing the dents in the fleet of home delivery vans, don't think I'd trust the drivers to get it here in one piece.
Won't be long I guess before Sainsbury's introduce a range to keep up, maybe the Sainsbugs Jester, the Clown, and indeed the fool.

The product range is Tesgo Metro, a small 2 berth, Tesgo Super a family 4 berth and Tesgo Extra a twin axle larger tourer.  All models will be fully equipped, every little helps.....

The trouble is that I can picture it - with the blue and red 'Tesco Value' branding prominently displayed on each side.
