We went to them in 2009 when I was wanting to order the 'van we currently have & their trade-in against our then 2007 Elddis Avante 540 was £1200 less than what I'd been offered from Glossop, but they refused to budge.  I guess sales must be booming for them so they can stick-to-their-guns with prices.

Years ago they did me a really good deal on a Challenger 490. I made the offer to the salesman. He said he didnt think they would agree to it, but he would ask. He came back 10 mins later and said "youve got a caravan". We were all shocked especially the salesman. There turned out to be few things wrong with it but they repaired everything no questions asked.

We looked at the Swift Sport before we bought our Bailey. As we already had a Swift Challenger (had 5 over the years) at the time we decided they were a very poor version of the Challenger. Very flimsy. The new Challenger (not the so called sport version) is much better but they didn't do the layout we wanted. Not at all keen on the black fronts either but that is just my choice.

Funnily enough apart from them being the only van that did the layout I wanted it was the look of the van that attracted me - I guess time will tell whether it is any good but having had two swift built vans before have been pleased with the quality so far.  The challenger sport is marketed as the low cost alternative so I would never expect it to compete with their higher specification vans.

Choice has been made as I pick up my new one on the 24th April :)

Frankly I don't see so much difference between the Challenger and the Sport to warrant the price differential. In any event, the 442 (and the Quasar 460/2) are the only end bathroom models on the market that will fit in my garden!

Well, just bought one as well, (all-be-it the Sterling Eccles Sport 554 version).  Best deal for me again was at Glossop.

How good are Glossop when dealing with warranty issues?

Roger, I had warranty issues on the first caravan I bought from them (2007 Elddis Avante 540) which they sorted without any problems, it was a rear light letting in water, one was replaced at a service, the other side started to leak three months later and they posted it to me and I replaced it.  On our current caravan the TV drop-down self-destructed and they posted the replacement parts out to me at home & I did it myself (easier than taking the 'van back to them).

I have heard that some folks have had problems with them sorting warranty issues, but so far I've had no problems with them.

Glossop are an excellent firm to deal with.  The only issue is getting there from anywhere that involves using the M62/M60/M57, especially in the morning rush hour!  They will however allow you to overnight on their car park.

They also have a network of approved service centres that they're happy for you to use at service time, fortunately for me one of them is a mobile engineer that lives 5 minutes away.

Does that cover warranty repairs as well as servicing?

I've been told by "someone in the trade" that warranty work can be a nightmare at Glossop - I just wondered how widespread their view was.

I asked him about that and he says he's happy to do the smaller warranty work (changing bolt on bits & pieces) but he wouldn't want to get involved in major work such as damp repairs etc as he hasn't got a workshop.  I have to say that some of the engineers that I saw at Glossop once all appeared to be under the age of 20, but I haven't had any bad experiences myself.
