Hi all,

I'm looking to strike out S/W from San Sebatian next Autumn heading for Salamanca.

My Satnav recommends the non toll road, N1/E5 to Vitoria-Gasteiz whilst ViaMichelin recommends the A8/E70 out the west side of San Sebastion and then the Toll Road AP1.

Having never been to this part of Spain before could I ask your opinions of these two routes?

As I'll be towing any input would be welcome regarding gradients etc. only southbound as were are returning via Santander Ferry.

As a slight aside my co-pilot suffers from extreme vertigo so any comments regarding sheer drops from the sides of these roads would also be welcome. She can normally get by by burying her head in a book!

TIA

The toll road may be slightly better traffic wise. But either route could run into sheer drops as its a quite mountainous area.
