My usual route to Spain (Blanes) towing of course is Eurotunnel, Rouen, Orleans then A71 and A75 to Beziers and join A9 for final link into Spain. But after looking at a map I was wondering whether it would be cheaper to use the route A20 to Limoges-Toulouse then A62-A61 to Narbonne and then join A9. The second route via Toulouse looks slightly longer mileage wise but without the steep gradients so saving on fuel plus not having to pay the heavy toll charge on the Milliua bridge. I wondered if overall it would work out cheaper.

Mileage wise from Orleans to Narbonne via the A71 is 412 miles.   Via Toulouse it's 434 miles.   Via Michelin or ASFA will tell you about toll charges.   Just a matter of researching it.

No tolls on the A75 between Clermont and Pezenas apart from the Millau Viaduct.

I've used both.

I will willingly pay a bit extra to use the A75 via the Millau viaduct because of the wonderful scenery going down through.

It's also a quieter route.

We tend to go a slower way with a few less tolls via Normandy (stop somewhere nicely South of Calais) and Pitou Charente (Twin Lakes via A10 for Stop over) past Bordeaux  to Blanes where we end up at La Masia

We tend to reguard tolls as something we will HAVE to pay for speed and comfort so we also at times go Lyon, L'Orange, Perignan (Canet - Ma Prairie)

Back in 2009 when planning a trip to Spain I looked at two routes.

1.Dover-Calais - Costa Blanca.

2.Portsmouth - Santander-Costa Blanca.

Just the diesel cost of driving Calais to Costa Blanca back in 2009 was £500 + channel crossing + tolls at class 4 , + 2 or 3 stops.

Cost of ferry Portsmouth-Santander £725 with outside cabin.

Guess which route we chose which had to be put back until 2011 for personal reasons.
