Hello. An new to caravanning and am looking at a Bradcot concept awning 1035. Anyone have one they are using as a seasonal awning? My other option is an Apache Torino ?
THANKS

If it's going to be left up all season I'd start thinking quality like "Isabella".

One needs "Isabella" money also
We had one years ago when we had the Leda Malvern, now whether it was the kids that caught the pole causing it to rotate slightly I am unsure, but the wing nut put a small hole in the awning overnight as we had high winds

Picked our Isabella Capri Lux up on ebay - £450 in excellent condition compared to £1075 new! The bargains are around and Isabella quality is second to none, you only have to pick up the bag to feel the weight compared to some cheaper awnings! I have owned both Bradcot and Dorema awning in the past, but would not go back to anything other than an Isabella.

I would rather opt for a good secondhand Isabella or a Ventura which is also made by Isabella. We picked one up on Preloved for our first van at £375 which was in excellent condition and loved the quality of it.
We now have a new Ventura for our current van which cost over £1,000. If you can hang on for a secondhand bargain become a member of Preloved, it costs nothing unless you want to upgrade your membership to be able to view the latest adverts first, this costs £5.00 per year. We have had several bargain buys from here and think it is much better than E-bay where our account was compromised. The address is www.preloved.co.uk

If you're talking about an awning which will be put up once then left in situ for several months then weight isn't really an issue - strength and stability is. Don't go for the alloy poles - they're fine for an awning that's being put up and taken down frequently but are the weakest of the three main options, although much lighter than the steel ones.
The fibreglass poles are best - but also the most expensive. Steel poles are strong and much cheaper but are heavy and unwieldy - not really an issue for a seasonal awning though.
Similarly with the fabric - a strong heavy fabric is preferably to a lighter one for seasonal use. You may also need to give it all a good clean at the end of the season, they often become discoloured after prolonged use.
There are awnings made specifically for seasonal use - check them out. Second hand is a good route to go too - many awnings are sold on after very little use because people buy new caravans and need a different size.

Whatever you do DO NOT get a a Ventura awning for all year round !!! We have one and considering its less than a year old it has weathered like a 10 year old one. Pole clamps have craked parts of the awning has perished and I have had to re waterproof some of the seems. We tried to complain to the dealer but they did not want to know as they through it in with the deal
Oh and the other thing they sweat like hell in the winter when you have a fire on. For me either go for an Isabella if you got the money or go for a Bradcott.
