Depends on the quality of the sewn in groundsheets, some are quiet thin.

I remember reading the other week about a campsite that recommended campers should gave a good quality groundsheet.

Just remember it is another item to take with you

Depending on the tent you have/get, many of them have available a footprint groundsheet, which goes under a sewn in groundsheet. We always used one, keeps you more waterproof, a more stable floor, and easier to clean then one with a tent attached. In the main, manufactures such as Outwell and Vango supply footprints for the bulk of their range. If a bespoke one is not available, simply by a cheap square one from Yeomans and cut it to size.

We are out of tents again now, but still use a footprint under the inner tents of the awning annex.
In 2010, Microsoft Windows will be a quantum processing emulation layer for a 128-bit mod of a 64-bit hack of a 32-bit patch to a 16-bit GUI for an 8-bit operating system written for a 4-bit processor from a 2-bit company that can't stand 1 bit of competition.

Always remember, if things can get worse, they probably will!!

We have a caravan and awning but always buy a length of builders polythene to put down under the groundsheet, saves all that cleaning.

It's been some time since we last camped in a tent, may I ask the 'tenter's' on T&T a question?

Is there a rule as to the maximum time you may erect a tent on one spot to stop damage being caused to the grass?

Most caravanner's & motor home users put down 'breathable' ground sheets which help but of course the ground sheet of a tent has to be water proof so one would it also to be air proof.

It depends on the site - some erect seasonal tents like Eurocamp which causes major damage - other sites get round it by not marking specific pitches for tents.
