Has any one -- or does any one take their cats with them on holiday??

either just in the UK or to France etc..

We are going to be going for longer and longer periods when Mary retires and it would seem a shame to keep on putting the cat into the cattery..

and we would mis it so much as well..

What are the rules and regs -- "it" has been chipped and has a full certificate of health with all vaccinations etc - year by year in its book..

But what else??

We had a static caravan for 4 years.  Took 2 cats with us, (and a dog and elderly mother!)as we didn't want to leave them at home.  The cats absolutely loved it - didn't feed them before we set off, let them out when we got there.  They went off exploring, I rattled the box of cat biscuits and they came racing back to be fed.  Only once did I get worried when one of them was nowhere to be seen when we were packing up.  We started up the car engine, and he came dashing along the path, right on cue.  Never tried it with a tourer, though.

I have seen cats on tourer sites, but always on a lead.  They got walked every day, just like a dog, in fact one couple had a cat and a dog and walked them together.  I wouldn't take ours, he'd disappear.

We regularly took our cat away in the van but he had been away with us from being a kitten so was used to it.  When we lived in Germany we took him everywhere but Italy (thought it would be too hot for him) even to ski areas in the winter.  He would walk at heel like a dog (think he thought he was an irish setter!!) so would come for a walk with the dog, we also kept a tray of litter in the awning for him.
