Hi TD,
This is a journey we have made several times on route to Croatia. We normally leave Calais mid morning and stop for the night at Campingplatz Buttelwoog at Dahn near to Pirmasens. Its in a rural setting just off the Rte 10 Pirmasens to Karlsruhe road.
Its not too far off route but is peaceful and has good facilities including a reasonably priced restaurant. There are some pitches on which you can remain hitched to make life easier. The site is listed in the CC europe guide.
The autobahn bypasses Munich pretty much the same as the M25 does to London so you don't need anti pollution stickers . Beware that traffic can be very heavy on this stretch at peak times.
Regards, Blackrat

thanks for your reply Blackrat. as it happens Croatia is our intended destination so any reccommendations on area's or sites would be most helpfull.
We intend using camping cheques & or ACSI card, but I do not think ACSI has any advantage in Croatia
