Although it might well be a slightly different story when the cat gets old, sick and the vet's bills start to roll in.
At least there are no school fees to pay, for the cat!

I'm a changed man - she hasn't pee'd on the floor, hasn't shat on the doormat and is really good with the kids.
She'll even play fetch with a ball - Bengals are more like dogs with brains
Not sure about 3 though - round here it's going to cost us £9.50 a night for the cattery each time we go away.... as we've booked 60 odd nights that's approx 76 nights in the cattery at a total cost of £
lovely markings on the new one M&S
And remember a cat isn't just for Christmas - it's for about 18 frigging Christmas's.

Why not take her with you - our old cat caravanned all over with us, even to ski sites when we lived in Germany. Start them young and there is no problem.

we have a lovely neighbour across the road who has 2 cats and 2 dogs and one of her cats is just a bigger version of mine and she feeds Coco for us whenever we go away and if she's away her son does it as he's there to feed hers and Coco just goes to her house - Cheeky devil that she is!!
Irene won;t take anythig from us for food either and we often ewnd up buying her a gift from wherever we have been and a bottle of nice wine as a thank you. She takes our spare keys and keeps an eye on the house too. Who says the spirit of community is dead?

Hi Anne Marie
not possible for me - the nature of my business (which I operate from a home based office) isn't compatible with a neighbour having free access to the house when we're away....
I'm about to book the cattery for the year - approx 80 nights in total at £9.50 a pop
and guess what? she shat on the floor this morning

We have a wonderful neighbour who used to have four cats so she is always happy to look after our cats if the DD's aren't around. She loves our dog too and is now thinking of getting a dog herself. I hesitate to ask her to feed them for the full six weeks we'll be away in May/June though so I'm hoping Dd1 will take them to her new flat otherwise we'll be offering the neighbours teenage daughter a temp. job as a cat feeder...much cheaper than a cattery.

you could always set up a cattery -- seems to pay well -- fit it out -- employ some teenage BTech students - pay minimum wage -- make a fortune and -- then put your cat in for free.. and claim the tax back??
Must be a good idea in this time of high unemployment and a greater number of people taking Caravan holidays -- good market

I'd rather sell the caravan than run a cat related business
loads of catteries round here - so it is a good business to be in
