Yes I should by now know better and be more informed at my age, BUT is doing Italy in June going to be met with site full notices? I like to go and just turn up and pay folding money without booking.
Any experiences folks or indeed good advice?

You should be absolutely fine.

There are a few sites close to the popular northern lakes that ay be busier than most but even then they are rarely FULL.

You will normally always be able to find space, but perhaps not in the most desirable sites or in the most desirable parts of a site.

Phoning ahead, if you can, is what I have found best.

..............and if you care to travel further south than Florence then I am told that the situation gets better and better but spoken English gets less and less............   as does the presence of other Brits.   I intend to test out that assertion myself very soon,  using the Greenstop24 Book.
