Hi Dave,

I hope you're having a good time. Whilst Delft is rightly popular with tourists, there's a multitude of local shops and activities. For instance, the famous blue and white painted fish stall on the corner of the market square (Markt) and Koornmarkt - and although I'm veggie or maybe because of that my work colleagues love going there for raw herring or fried fish nibbles...

My office is just a few km south of Delftsehout, in the industry park "Rotterdam Noord-West" - so if you have any questions about local information just ask...

Regards - Groetjes - Robert

If you fancy a drive to an outstanding caravan hypermarket - take a drive (90 minutes from Delft - so a rainy day drive) to Camping Sport De-Wit in Schijndel - they take UK credit cards and it has a good coffee shop - it's a massive 70,000 sq metres

The nearby city of Den Bosch ('s-Hertogenbosch) is nice too - another Delft like gem ...

Thanks Robert, I think you must have known the forecast!

Sitting here with a river running through the Awning in one of the biggest thunderstorms we have seen.

(90 minutes from Delft - so a rainy day drive)

Daughter still sound asleep in the Annexe!!

Generally yes - the UK and Benelux get roughly the same weather and the predominant wind direction is from the west (or south west) - so if you are in Holland and want to know tomorrows weather look at what's happening in the UK today...

The Dutch call rainy days "Engelsweer" or English Weather - I've proposed they call thunderstorms and really heavy rain "Welsweer" or Welsh weather yes.gif

Actually, the southern part of Holland gets most of their weather straight up the English channel - so they have a higher annual rainfall than England...

We were on the Delft-Hout site in April with an East Yorks CC Rally.....the temperature was 22c most days when it was raining at home...so we don't exactly have same weather!

If you compare like with like, then it's very similar - Rotterdam and Delft are exactly east of our home in Buckinghamshire - and we get the same weather (excluding rain).

Comparing Yorkshire temperatures with the south of Holland isn't going to be the same...

""Comparing Yorkshire temperatures with the south of Holland isn't going to be the same...""

...actually I meant whole of UK for the temperature and rain at the time...I do realise that our temperatures in Yorkshire are normally somewhat higher than those in my former counties of residence in the Bedfordshire/Buckinghamshire area.............we pick up a lot of warm air from the South!....seriously though I spent many years working for a Dutch company myself and in daily conversations we rarely had the same weather ........which would support your statement.

Delft is beautiful. World famous for its blue pottery. I suggest you take some day trips in Rotterdam, den Haag or Utrecht. Places that are well worth a visit! Enjoy!
