Could anybody please advise which awning would be suitable for an Abbey Spectrum 535 twin axle.
We bought the 'van yesterday and now have to start equiping it! jump1.gif
All we have to do now is sell our RV so we can buy the Sorento to pull it!!!   lol.gif yes.gif

Please bear in mind that
a/ we come from a motorhome background and as such have no knowledge at all re awnings
and
b/ as we are mainly full timers, it is likely that the awning is going to be up most of the time and in some foul weather!

What we are looking for is a decent piece of kit at a SENSIBLE price. Yes, I know you get what you pay for, but the name Issabela scares the heck out of my wallet! yes.gif

Thanks. jump1.gif

Hi Paul

You don't say what year the van is but a quick Internet search tells me that the awning size required for the 2008 van is 1048cm so you'll be looking at a 1050cm if it's a new van.

As for which awning, well, everyone will have a different opinion as to what would suit you best. I find that quality costs and there can be a big difference in quality.

Isabella come highly recommended but expect to pay over ?1000 for a new one.

My awning is errected for about six months each year and it's into its fourth year now.   It's still as good as new - except for some dirt.   It's one of the these:-    http://home.btconnect.com/nrawnings/index.htm

We have a Dorema Exclusive which is made from fairly heavy duty material as we have been campsite wardens for several years , so needed something really sturdy. It cost ?625 when new in 2005 (I think we used a porch awning for the first couple of years!).
We hang the three sides (with the windows) in the garage and bag the rest over the winter. When the whole thing is used, we travel with the windows folded carefully on the beds. It can also be used without the "windows" if the weather is nice, as a canopy rather than an awning.

We also refuse to pay exhorbitant prices for the posh ones.

We found the Dorema awnings reasonably priced and of a very good build quality. We've had two of these so far, the Scirocco models.

We have now got a Bradcot Classic. Again a decent awning at a reasonable price but a tad more than the Dorema.

Our porch awning is a Bradcot Portico. Again, a decent awning at a fair price. This replaced a cheap tenting thing that fell apart when a breeze puffed on it.

We've bought the Spacelite from Outdoor Revolution. Looks like this will be THE one that we will use most of the time. You can get them now for ?150 which is a great price.  thumbup.gif

So, if you go through the same as the rest of us, you will probably find that the 4th or 5th awning you buy, will be the right one for you.  blushing.gif

I've never had one but I think the Isabella awnings are the bees knees. They look fab on sites and certainly seem to last. Why not look for a used Isabella awning? I bet you'd get one that looked like new but a lot cheaper.

Apart from that, I've had 2 NR Pullman awnings and think they're great. Only ever used them for a couple of weeks at a time at most but I think they're super value.
