I'm researching sites near Rushden as OH has a sales meeting there on the 20th and we are looking to come down that way and then continue on for our main holiday afterwards maybe on to Brighton area where SIL lives.
This looks like a fantastic park with loads to do as OH will have the car away with him on the Friday and so I need to be able to occupy the kids without travelling.
It says ?20 per pitch and that seems a great price for what they provide but there's nothing like a personal recommendation. can anyone give me any more info? thanks.

another option nearby would be pitching at Wicksteed Park in Kettering - no electric but only 10 quid a night and loads of stuff for the kids - perfect for a one nighter.

We would be there for at least 2 nights. Cosgrove looks so good we'd be tempted to stay 3 or 4 nights and see a bit of the area as well.

Hi Anne Marie,
We have stayed at Cosgrove a couple of times. The facilities i.e washrooms etc are good. The shop and cafe were also reasonably good. There are plenty of fishing lakes and the main lake is also used for water skiing and jet skiing. Plenty of swings etc for kids. Pub at end of drive. Only problem we found was getting a decent pitch as site caters for a lot of seasonal pitched vans mostly Lakeside.

Hi
We live in Northampton which is the staggering distance of 15 miles from Cosgrove so this spot is literally 20 minutes down the road. We go regularly for weekends with our 3 kids, all boys, 10,7 and 5. We all love it.
It has loads of facilities, not too expensive, the place is normally spotlessly clean and with two of our sons seriously into fishing it is the ideal quick getaway location for us.
I would recommend that you give it a try and think that you will be quietly impressed. We have met many families there from all over the UK and we haven't heard one complaint of any substance yet.
Hope you like it if you try it out,
Regards,
Martin and the Gang

What a mess. You were lucky you got out without damage. (I take it you had no damage anyway).

My yongest got a bit of a fright though. Note to myself. "don't pitch at lake side campsites in heavy rain".
This was the van just along a bit from ours

Those pictures bring back bad memories for us over the summer. Thank goodness you got out. How heavy was the rain? Torrential?

It had been raining non stop for about a week. Oddly though on the day it happened the ran had stopped and the sun was beaming down all day. By 12 0'clock in the afternoon a fire man had came round and told us that we had 30 mins to get off the site as the water was rising by 6 inches an hour. If we weren't ready in half an hour we would have had to leave it on site with the car. . . . I was out in twenty mins. It's the fastest I have ever taken down an awning and hitched up. Not one I wish to repeat though

Did you know where you were going when you left the site or was it just a case of drive in any direction to somewhere drier?

We were booked into another site down south but not for anther day so we had to phone and see if there was any space. As it happened we didn't get there until late on so we spent the extra night on the late arrivals pitch.
Having said that the late arrivals pitch was very nice. Mostly we were happy that it was dry.
