Unfortunately we’ve had to delete hundreds of campsites, sometimes because they have been closed, but mainly because they have been changed to semi residential parcs where you are no longer welcome with your tent, touring caravan or motorhome. This is a very sad development for all who like caravanning or camping.

'Archie' has asked me to announce that a new update to his website, giving POIs for over thirty thousand campsites throughout Europe is now on-line at http://www.archiescampings.eu/eng1/

This time he wants to highlight:

Details of thousands of campsites checked in Spain, Belgium and Denmark
Just as in the previous update we’ve been checking  the details of thousands of campsites.. This time the focus was on Spain, Belgium and Denmark.   I am very grateful to Parafoeter for his input into this invaluable and time-consuming work.

Also updates for about 2000 European “little ones”
We have also checked the details of thousands of smaller sites throughout the whole of Europe .

Dozens of sites have been deleted, and a few more added
During these checks we have had to delete many campsites, but fortunately a few more new campsites have been added.

Free demo app available
There is now a free demo for the Android App,  with a small number of campsites initially.

News  about the apps for iPhone, iPad and Windows
The development of the app for the iPhone / iPad has been started.  Unfortunately it doesn’t look as if it will be ready for the summer. We are having talks about developing the app for Windows 7 phones.  

Sygic rupi files deleted
Because of shortfalls in the Sygic navigation software for smartphones,  it appears that it is not possible to use the rupi beta files which were available in the previous update.  Sygic seems to have trouble with  large numbers of campsites in one file and Sygic is apparently  not able to deal with data from more than one country in the same poi file.  Because of this the rupi files are no longer available in my downloads until Sygic has solved its problems.  Please, address your comments and questions about this problem directly to Sygic itself!

Yet another update:

The latest update of Archie's website, of POI's for more than 30,000 campsites throughout Europe is now on line at http://www.archiescampings.eu/eng1/

Lots of details have been changed in the Netherlands and in Italy and there are some changes in a lot of other countries

Again we’ve been checking the details of thousands of campsites. As a result in the Netherlands and in Italy we have corrected quite a lot of wrong information, but there have also been changes in Ireland, in the North-East of Europe (Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Poland) and in the South-East (Chechnya, Slovenia, Croatia, Romania, Turkey and Greece).

New descriptions

Almost all navigation systems have problems with characters with special signs as é, ù, ø, and so on, therefore almost all of these signs have been deleted in the descriptions.

News about the apps for iPhone and Windows

In addition to the development of the app for the iPhone, a start has also been made with the development of the app for Windows phones. Both apps will hopefully be ready for use by the end of the year.

Archie has just announced the latest update of his website of over 30,000 campsite POI's throughout Britain and Europe:
More amendments to the data for many campsites, with this update concentrating on Norway, Italy, and the United Kingdom
Since the last update we have worked through and checked the data of about 3000 campsites in Norway, Italy and the United Kingdom. We have changed the information on several hundred campsites, and had to delete some sites, but have added a lot of new campsites.

News about the discount campsites with Camping Cheque, Best Deal and the ACSI Card

The ‘viewfile’ for 2013 Camping Cheque sites has been available since the last udate. Now these campsites are also available as POIs.

Best Deal campsites for 2013 are also available as POIs, and we hope to have more news about Best Deal, especially in Germany.
ACSI Card campsite POIs for 2013 are fortunately now available.
Please check regularly for new information.

POIs separated by countries

The poll on the website indicates that the additional possibility of downloading campsite POIs by country has been received positively. Don’t hesitate to send us your comments either by email or by completing the poll on the website.

From today's date a new update to Archie's website (which contains POIs and other information for over 30,000 European campsites) is available at http://www.archiescampings.eu/eng1/  and Archie has asked me to pass on the following message:

A huge number of changes in France and the United Kingdom
Since the latest update we have again checked thousands and thousands of campsites and once more have been able to improve again the quality and quantity of our data. Thanks (again!) to Parafoeter the number of campsites in the UK has increased and the position details, where necessary, are now more precise.
Also in France, we have checked our data and have updated details of many hundreds of campsites so our data is now even more precise.

Feedback from users:  We are happy to receive feedback from many of our users, but are always glad to receive more.  We spend many hours, day in, day out, seven days a week, to help you.  Please help us on behalf of the other hundreds of thousands of fellow campers by sharing your experiences  Our users know more than we can ever do!

Latest app news:  From the developers of the new Archies Campings Apps we have received positive news.  As well as the Widows App, the IOS (Apple) App are both now in the first test phase.  Depending on the results, we hope to have positive news before the next update, which will be due in May.

Download the new update to Archie's Camping:
British review completed: We have finished the comprehensive review of British campsites.  In this update you will find lots of corrections and additions.
More campsites in Eastern-Europe:   Thanks to the help of one of our users we have been able to increase the number of campsites in  Eastern-Europe, especially in Serbia and Albania.  In the update we’ve added some sites in Macedonia.
Small campsites selection for app:   Following requests from the app users we have started to compile a special selection based on small campsites. Because an enormous number of campsites in Europe fall into this category (probably more than 20.000) it will take a long time before this selection is ready to publish.
Update to opening dates:  Parafoeter has started to update the opening periods of the campsites along the highways. In this version he has already updated the opening dates of campsites in France, Spain, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Italy
iOS app now available: And last but not least: the Archiescampings App for users of iPhone, iPod and iPad is now available in the App Store!
