Gary..  thumbup.gif

I just noticed you thanked me for thanking you on my Feb 22 2008 post. I'm very greatful for your instructions Gary. I just did what you said and the truma heating problem is now sorted.

I should have said on my previous post.. "It's hardly worth the bother of making your own thermistor up really when Gary is willing to make one up at such a low price.

Cheers,
Kal

Glenn,

Thanks for the reply. First things first. I have taken off the Thermostat front. Should the thermostat itself give off a clicking sound, just as domestic ones does, or is the click I hear when in the van coming from behind the fire.

I'll check out the plug at the back of the heater on the way home today.

I do know my way around a multimeter, so should be ok to check out some things. the worrst thing about this heating is that there is no info anywhere!, no wiring diagrams, schematics etc.

Andy

Another thing that goes wrong with these heaters if they are used a lot is the mains heater control PCB fails on the rear of the element box in simple terms this pcb controls 3 relays which connect the 2 elements in series or parrell to give 500.1000 or 2000watts. This PCB will cost you about ?135  to replace.  Good news is they are dead easy for me to mend just 3 components fail which costs about ?5 So if your dealer tells you a new PCB is required PM me I will mend it for you.  Glenn.

Glenn, can you mend my  truma heater pcb, i sent it to truma in derbyshire they said only working on 500 setting, relays need replaceing hope you can help .  tel 01706 853133. thanks alot dave

Dave no problem to replace the 3 relays I use 16amp rated ones rather than the original 10amp fitted by truma. do you want to get 3 relays and post it to me. or even get a exchange PCB from Gary @ ARC systems, its his living.

If you had a green light and clicking relays before then, the transfomer was ok then. the transformer just converts 230v ac down to 12v ac then there are 4 diodes on the pcb to convert to 12v dc for the relay coils. Do you have a 230v supply to the pcb from the local spur?
