France Our Itinerary

Took the Norfolkline ferry for the first time, had a slight hold up and then were directed to the security area to be checked over

Still got on Phew

We were a bit worried as it was a 2 hour journey but it was actually very relaxing

Into France just about 3pm in the afternoon

We drove to Beauville (I think will check on that) not our type of campsite at all and we were very glad to leave in the morning

Were driving all day and got to Le Capeyrou about 8pm in the evening on Thursday evening

Friday had a bit of a settle in day, took a walk down to Beynac town very nice:thumbsup:

Saturday we visited Chateau Millandes, Chateau Castelnaud and Domme, smashing all of them

Sunday after the St Cyprien market, Chateau Fenelon was the viewing and then the afternoon in Le Roque Gageac

Today had been lovely and lazy with a quick shop in the supermarket and then around the pool, wonderfully warm day.

will update as and when we can

The Planning Can Begin

at last our dog`s passport is finally complete & she is now able to re-enter the UK from next Feb which means we can start planning our easter trip to europe. We have really missed our annual trip to France this year, although we have had a great time visiting previously unseen parts of the UK ....... SO decisions, decisions we have always promised ourselves a visit to the Dordogne but never been able to get beyond the beautiful Loire, in 7 attempts, we also really liked the look of the Black forest in Germany when we did a motorcycle trip to Lake Garda, so fortunately we have plenty of time make our choice. I think we will start looking into it while we are at Garlieston CC this weekend & the back up plan, if she had failed her blood test, of a tour of Northern Scotland will now be put on ice for a little while longer ...... unless we win the lottery

Spain Newbie !

Ok, so like most we have now done France for a few years, Italy too....so fancy Spain !! MAYBE !

Looking around we fancy a ferry to Santander, then a site no more than about 100km from the port....site would be 3 star with a pool, bar and other amenities...not really wanting a large "las dunas" type site....also maybe for a small rally....pitches 100m2 if poss !

Any suggestions much-us-grassy-arse !!

On a par with, or better than Sequoia Parc ( suggestions )

Hi all,

We mothballed the tourer this summer in favour of Turkey. No regrets on this, but now thinking of options for summer 2011.

We did Vendee/Charente in 2004/2008 & 2009 , and went to Cote d'Azure ( Antibes ) without the tourer in 2007.

We like the Atlantic coast but want something a bit different, so maybe its time to stretch the touring down to the South, or maybe even lakes. Maybe even Italy if the prices are low enough....

Criteria is :-
> Got to have super dooper pool complex like Sequoia Parc
> Got to be near the coast or a big lake
> Got to have places to visit to occupy a fortnight ( we generally alternate to 1 day @ camp / 1 day out & about )

So...what place can occupy three xbox/ipod generation kids for August 2011 ???

Ideas /links please
Thanks

The Ardeche

We are taking our 5th wheel + Nissan Navara to the Ardeche for a couple of weeks, last week Aug' - 1st week Sept.
This will be a new area for us after many years in the Dordogne with caravans, motorhomes,& RV's.

Any sugestions/advice re campsites and road condtions for large(ish) units (once we leave the Autoroute) would be very much appreciated.

Over here, we prefer quiet CL's and are hoping that given the time of year, it might have quietened off (like the Dordogne does) ?

I've had a look at the route re tolls and, even tho West Autoroute is roughly 80 euros one way and East Autoroute is 160 Euros, I think we'll use
East because if memory serves, the West Autoroute (south of Clermont Ferrand) is an absolute swine for steep hill and this with batter our fuel
consumption. Much as I love my Navara, I am fully aware of its limitations with such a large 5ver on the back. All I want to
do is try and avoid the steepest sections whist towing. Solo, I dont care!

Thinking of starting near Aubenas and doing 2 or 3 multi night stops following the Ardeche so that we can canoe the various sections.

Any advise much appreciated.

Thanks.

just of on holiday on Saturday!!

OK this isn't new -- but we are of on Saturday on our holidays -- Portsmouth - Bilbao - France..

The question is ..

Do I fill up with diesel prior to getting on the "Pride of Bilbao" or wait till we get to Spain and franticly search for a filling station on the Motorway into France..

Or pray that we have enough fuel to get into France..
-- and our campsite at Casteljalaux - Moulin Campech...

OK guys so what are the fuel prices?
Spain - Motorway
Spain - Local
France - Motorway
France - Local

also is there a filling station near to Portsmouth ferry???
