New Wheels And Tyres

I needed new tyres for my van. A Freedom fitted with steel wheels. My local tyre company quoted me £55 for new tyres 165 X 13.

I looked on the Towsure website and found I could get new tyres fitted to new wheels for £54.95 each plus delivery about £10. Thus for £10 I ended up with my van looking far better and it only cost me £10.

NOW FOR THE CAUTION BIT OF THIS POST - I CHECKED THE TYRE PRESSURES AND DISCOVERED BOTH WERE AT 60lb - IF I had towed the van without checking the TPs the tyres would have blown out.

:laugh:DO NOT TRUST OTHERS INVEST IN A SIMPLE TYRE PRESSURE GUAGE AND ALWAYS CHECK YOUR TYRES.

Leak Under Sink

my bathroom sink tap is leaking underneath but i can't see if it's a pipe connection or not, I'd like to remove the tap to get a closer look and can feel a large nut above where the pipes connect, I reckon i will need a special tool to reach it as there is very little room for my hands to work or for a spanner to turn, I don't have a domestic tap spanner at home anyway but before i go making a mess of things, has anyone done this job before who can recommend the correct tool to use, many thanks

Water Pump Hose Burst

We haev a Carver ( I think) pump system - the one with the double hose and on holiday our hose split sending a cascade of water over the kids' pup tent which under the circimstances could have been quite funny if they had chosen that time to get out of their pits!!
anyway repeated applications of tape etc did very little and as we were in FRance we couldn't find a replacement and eventualy the application of superglue - of all things stopped the leak and kept it going all through the holiday but we wouldn't let the kids drink the water unless in tea etc.
Now i'm wondering - I have heard a rumour that I can replace just the hose and not the whole unit as they seem to be horrendously expensive.
Can anyone enlighten me on this and perhaps give me some advice as to where to find such a replacement hose?
Many thanks in advance!

truma us10 water heater

my water heater is pulling air and the heating element is tripping out ,then i purge the system unplug the hook up to reset it then it works ok. i go out for the day come back to find it has tripped again. i can not see any leaks i have fitted a new none return valve to the heater feed pipe and i still have the same problem, as anyone had this problem.? there is a vent valve on the heater outlet could this be the problem,or do i have to change all the tap seals . is this a common problem with an ease fix. as for the taps i thought the none return would stop the air getting to the heater.

the heater is a truma type us 10. number us103-15119186 and is fitted to my swift challenger 550LSE

Water Heater Problems

Whilst we were away at the weekend the gas bottle ran out, we replaced the gas bottle but are unable to ignite the water heater. When we press the button the green light comes on on the display panel but after a 30 seconds another light comes on showing that we are out of gas. As we were able to use the water heater prior to the gas running out we are at a loss to understand why it has stopped working.

Any help on this problem would be greatly appreciated. The water heater works on electric but unfortunately we dont always camp where electric is available.

Water Pump/ water heater.

My caravan is a 1990 Avondale Mayfly, we have been having problems with the 12 volt system, even with both pumps disconnected I am getting the impression that there is a short circuit somewhere because the low battery warning light comes on as soon as the pump switch goes on on the Zig panel. Does anyone have a circuit diagram, or could the problem be with the Zig unit itself. Have cleaned both earth contacts under the van with no effect, ideas please. Graham.

Abbey 12volt when car connected.

Hi All
I have just bought a 1996 Abbey Spectrum 418, towed it back home (with my car) and then been doing some work on it.
We are going to be using our other car (Hyundai Santa Fe) for towing it as its a bit too much for mine (max weight is just over the limit) so just fitted a tow bar to it along with a 13pin socket and replaced the 12n & 12s plugs on the van with a 13pin plug.
When I plug the car in and start it the light on the fridge comes on (not sure if it is working yet as not been on long enough to test it) the van battery voltage goes up BUT none of the lights in the van work what ever postion the seletor switch is in, if I turn the car off then they will work when the selector is in the car position, is this normal for the van to isolate the lighting/pump etc
Thanks in advance for any info.

Motor Mover Handsets ( buttons)

hi,
i am thinking of fitting a motor mover in the near future and have been browsing all the manufacturers sites and watching the demo video's, pretty impressive stuff from them all, but one thing that i cant get my head around is why does the remote handset have to have 6 seperate buttons for direction changing ?. going by what i see on the demo, the button that is used to move the front of the caravan right will also move the back to the left at the same time, and vice versa. so why the need for 2 extra buttons to move the back left and right when they are already there.

Electrolux RM4271

Morning guys.
As the title says really.
This is on a friends van I'm trying to fix at the mo'
It's been in stroage for months, she's come back from Spain and has pulled the van out to use for a few weeks.
Fridge onto 240 V..........no problems for about 2 days...........then, suddenly defrosted overnight.

After checking, I've found the 240 element to be failed and will be replacing it for her.
For now, fridge running on gas. Fired up no problem and started to cool down so happy days for now.
Then, after about 2 hours, after opening & shutting the fridge door, the orange switch for the lighter/re-ignitor, on the R/H of the fridge control panel, suddenly started to flash and wont stop, even though the gas flame is good and the fridge is working.
I've turned the orange switch OFF and the gas is running OK but I should be able to leave this switch ON in case of flame failure.

This lass is a pensioner, a lovelly lass and I'm trying my best to save her some money.

Any ideas please?

changing tap inc removing fridge.

Hi

My friend in the caravan next to me snapped the lever off his kitchen tap and needs to replace it (Eldis 2 berth 2006).

When i had a look it seems i will need to take his fridge out to gain acess, i note there are cover caps on the inside the fridge on 2 on each side at the front.
Am i guessing if i remove these they will expose the fixing screws and will that allow the fridge to slide out.
My next concern is the gas feed to the fridge, will it be on a flexihose system or do i need to disconnect it prior to removing the fridge unit. (if so how)?
I shall dissconect the supply at the bottle before i start any work.

If anybody can give me any advice so i can help out a mate this would be great.

Also in my old caravan (1990) my taps work using a built in microswitch system, i belive newer models use a pressure switching system does this
mean i need to do anything different?
