Storing Van In France

OK we are in the middle of a smashing holiday in France at the moment -- in the Mid Pyrenees
We have seriously been considering leaving the van here in storage till next time we need it
-- the cost €€340 per yr and stored under cover in a barn.
-- the caravan is washed prior to use, and located on site when you require it..
-- looking at it - it seems quite good
-- so long as you come over at least twice a year
-- you would {should - might?} cover the cost of storage -- against ferry - road charges - fuel- costs etc..But it would be very convenient

Servicing -- I raised this point and they have an accredited UK service engineer who comes out and service the vans etc etc. with guarantees
Insurance -- told me to check and find an insurance company but mentioned "Tower Insurance" ??

Has any one done this??

Several on this site have -- he has +50 vans in his storage at the moment -- so it must work..

What are the pros and cons!
shout the problems !!

any one doing this at the moment???

I'Ll Tell You Whats Wrong With The Uk...........

Today was a momentous day for me, a first, an experience ive never ever been in the position of.
I had to buy a washing machine. On my own. And a fridge freezer.

Now lets point out something for the ladies to explain the basic differences between us and you lot when buying such items. I do not care a fig on its energy rating, nor if it has a salad crisper (WTF????), nor an egg holder. What i want from my fridge is:

A. will it cool things to minus 10?

B. does it look better than my mates?

C. is it taller than i actually need so minimum effort is needed to reach the pork pies?

So thats our criteria, and its not easy to whittle down the good from the bad. However, onwards i went.

Now the problems with the UK are set out in this very next paragraph. But let me point out i whenever possible fully support local small businesses, even if there is a small price hike in favour of the soul less conglomerates.

I got up, washed, dressed (after a good scratch), and proceeded to the appliance shop 2 miles away. Time was 09.10. Thought i'd miss the morning traffic and still get a parking space. So, traffic missed, parking space found, and on foot i proceeded to the appliance shop round the corner from where i'd parked.
Shut.
Time now approaching 09.20 and its shut!!! Whats going on there then? Hows that work? Are they on flexi time? Right then, suitably miffed i get back in the car and drive to the next one, which is across the Wirral almost 9 miles away, thinking to myself that the first shop obviously cant be bothered to open at "normal" hours so i aint giving them my money.
Gets to the second appliance shop on an industrial estate in Neston at around 9.45.
Shut.
SHUT!!!! Not only was he shut, but he doesnt open Tuesdays OR Thursdays!!! Am i in some kind of vortex on a different plain where everyone has disappeared or something?
Now im miffed beyond belief.

All i want to do is BUY a couple of products. And there isnt even any hard sell needed, i need these items ASAP.

Had enough now so decided to go back to original shop, another 9 miles, to see if they have now opened. But on the way through Thornton Hough (If you've never been here its a quintessential English village, with a green, tudor houses etc etc) and on the way through i decide to stop for a tinkle. Pulled up outside the public (immaculate) toilets.
Shut.

Someone somewhere is deliberately taking the mick now. 2 retailers, shut. 1 public toilet, shut. Thornton Hough is possibly one of the nicest, cleanest, quietest quaint villages you will ever visit. Its a stunning place, all centred round the village green. Its such a good tourist destination for people visiting Wirral. As long as they dont need a tinkle in the loo.

So stuff em all, i nipped up to the local retail park, gave Currys, Comet and Tesco Home my money, used Tescos toilets, and came home again.

So THATS whats wrong with the UK.
I'm not claiming it's brilliant but it's easy to do and nice to have photos in a book instead of on a computer.
